Call centers were probably among the first industries to start remote working, and some have been letting their employees work from home for many years.
These jobs are usually great starting points for those with no previous remote working experience and who are looking to work at home. Most call centers don’t require any prior experience working at home, and some don’t even require any past customer service experience.

Education Needed for a Call Center Job
Most call center jobs are considered entry-level and only require a high school diploma or a GED. However, at times there may be clients that require a college degree.
Skills Need for a Call Center Job
Some of the skills needed to work in a call center include the following:
- The ability to type at least 35 to 40 WPM.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Active listening skills and communication skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly.
Equipment Needed for a Work at Home Call Center Job
Since call center jobs are usually phone-related, you’ll need to have a quiet workspace. You must have a desktop or laptop computer and high-speed internet service. You will need to have a noise-canceling headset with a mute button.
Some companies require you to have landline telephone service, and a few require dual monitors.
You should carefully read the technical requirements for each company since they can differ from one company to another.
