HotelPlanner is an online travel tech company that has been in business since 2004. The company specializes in offering travels negotiated low rates on hotels, extended stays, and corporate meeting stays. 

They offer individual, group, and corporate discounted rates for stays with large hotel conglomerates and privately owned hotels, lodging providers, and online wedding providers.

The company hires Reservations Agents to work at home, taking incoming calls from people who are considering booking a stay.

Overview of the Reservations Agent

Responsibilities

The primary duty of the Reservations Agent is to answer incoming calls from potential customers and convert each call into a booked stay and provide a booking confirmation to the customer. For each call that is converted to a booking, you will earn a commission.

Education and Qualifications

There are no education or required qualifications listed in the job posting. 

However, since this is a customer service and sales-based position, having previous customer service experience will be extremely helpful.

Technical Requirements

You will need the following: 

  • Personal computer.
  • Updated Google Chrome web browser.
  • Headset with a microphone.
  • Hard-wired, high-speed internet service.

The company will require you to send a screenshot of an internet test (they provide the test link) to make sure your internet is strong enough for calls.

Calls are received through your computer and not a phone.

Work Schedules

As mentioned above, there are no set schedules for this position. The company is available to receive calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Reservations Agents are free to log on and log off any time of day for as long as they choose. You can work at much or as little as you wish. The only stipulation is that you work at least one day per month.

Training

All training for this position is completed virtually from home and consists of two one-hour Zoom sessions. You are free to attend as many Zoom training sessions as you wish until you are comfortable taking calls.

The company does not pay for training.

Pay and Benefits

The pay for this position is commission only. The more you work, the more money you can make. But, according to the job posting, Agents can expect to make between $10 and $30 per hour depending on their performance.

Since this position is an independent contractor job, no employee benefits are offered.
