Work at Home Doing Laundry for Others

I make money on some of the products and services I mention on Thinking Frugal through affiliate relationships. I never endorse a product or service unless I believe it will benefit my readers.

When we think of doing laundry, we all cringe a little bit. It’s that necessary evil that must be done, and for some, especially moms with little ones, it seems like a never-ending chore.

Personally, I don’t really hate doing laundry too much. But then again, there are only two of us, and I usually do it at night while I’m watching television. So, it doesn’t seem like that much of a chore.

But, what if you could get paid to do laundry? That’s right; you can actually get paid to work at home doing laundry for other people.

We now live in the age of “on-demand” services.

Shipt, Uber, Grubhub, and Amazon Flex are all on-demand services. And Laundry Care offers on-demand laundry services.

Many people simply don’t have time in their busy lives to spend hours washing and drying clothes. Also, some people, like college students, may not have access to washers and dryers.

Laundry Care hires independent contractors to work at home as Laundry Providers.

What is Laundry Care?

Laundry Care is an online, app-based platform for people that need on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning services.

For the standard wash, dry, and fold service, customers buy a 13-gallon reusable laundry bag, and the bag holds 2-3 loads of laundry.

The price of the bag depends on where the customer lives but typically costs $35. When their bag is full, they can place an order by using the website or downloading the mobile app.

A Laundry Care provider goes to the customer’s home, picks up their laundry, and takes it to their house, where they wash, dry, iron, and fold it. The provider then delivers the clean laundry back to the customer’s home.

Services can be the same day, the next day, or two days. The standard turnaround time is two days, and customers are charged an additional 30% of their order for faster service times.

Extras such as delicate wash, stain treatment, dry-cleaning, add-ons, and rush order services also cost the customer more.

Overview of the Laundry Provider

The responsibility of a Laundry Provider is to pick up laundry from customers, wash, dry, iron, fold it, and then deliver it back to the customer.

Education and Qualifications

To qualify, you must be at least 21 years of age or older, have a washer and dryer, have the ability to pick up and deliver laundry, and have a smartphone with internet access.

You must also be able to pass a background check and be available to work during the day.

The company also requires you to purchase a supply kit for $39.99. This kit includes five 13-gallon reusable bags, a portable hanging scale, plastic bag tags, and clear garment covers.

Providers must supply their own laundry detergent, stain removers, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, and hangers.

Pay and Benefits

Laundry Providers are paid $19 – $20 per each bag of laundry.

Each bag typically holds 2 – 3 loads. Since extras such as dry-cleaning, and add-ons cost the customer more, Laundry Providers can make more money when these extra services are requested.

Laundry Care sends payments to your “My Wallet” section of their app, and you are free to transfer the funds to your bank account.

Since this position is an independent contractor job, there are no employee benefits offered.
