Overview of the Virtual Assistant Position
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the virtual assistant will depend upon each client’s needs but may include:
- Drafting correspondence.
- Making travel itineraries.
- Data entry.
- Managing calendars.
- Bookkeeping.
- Proofreading and editing correspondence.
- Managing email.
- Planning events.
- Preparing invoices and billing customers.
- Office management.
- Transcribing documents.
- Customer service.
- Internet research.
Education and Qualifications Needed
All virtual assistants must be college educated and have at least a bachelor’s degree in any field of study. They must also reside in the United States and:
- Have a high degree of skill working with search engines and online rating sites.

Pay and Benefits
The exact pay will depend on the client you’re working for and the scale of your duties. However, the pay for most positions appears to start between $20 and $27 per hour.
